Trying to get more and more product photos on this site I’ve been looking around for more products that I can shoot that are around my house. I found my iPod Nano and decided I wanted to try and recreate the way that apple displays their products. I had this shot last week but only today went into Photoshop to get it looking similar. Using my new light box that I made a few weeks ago I decided I wanted to try and do different things with it other than still products. So I wanted to get some shots of things interacting with each other. I thought of food coloring into water. The set up is easy, glass of water and then my hand above shooting the coloring into the water. You can see the how the water goes from clear to red in a matter of shots. I tried this on two different times, first time came out pretty good second time isn’t bad but still worked. Below is the first days effort. Continue reading →

I want to expand the photography that I’m working on. I have done other types that I still am working on getting better at, but yesterday I started my work on product photography with one of my watches. I tried yesterday with just a piece of paper on a table and a speedlite and a strobe to light the watch. If I spent more time than I had it would have come out better than it did (it turned out pretty good but I know I could have done better). So I decided to build a light box to see if it would come out better or if I should just play more with the lighting and a table. Continue reading →

Last year I attempted to do a 365 project, well really I only tried to do a 52 week project. I decided on the 52 week project instead thinking that I’d be able to stick with it. How hard could it be to take one picture a week? Apparently hard when different things came up and I didn’t have time to take that one picture a week. Now I’m going to attempt to do the 365 project which is to take a picture every day of the year. I decided to have a dedicated site for my project because I didn’t want to have so much on this blog where my other project would be buried onto other pages. I have this new project at 365.tomwerkheiser.com. So check out if I can complete it, give some encouragement, and give me some ideas for the pictures. I have one day down, 365 to go (it’s a leap year this year).
