Some shots of Boston

Being in Boston this past weekend I took a few pictures around town. Didn’t take too many this year because it was cold and I enjoyed having my hands warm in m pockets, I took more last year which you can see here. This year I only took a few. I went to the cemetery where Paul Revere is buried at took a few shots there. The building is Park Street Church, a historic church that was built in 1810. The last picture is of the Liberty Hotel, the hotel used to be Charles Street jail and was renovated to be a hotel a few years back. Read More…

Fun with HDR

I was in Boston this past weekend and was taking a few pictures and I always see something that I think will be cool in HDR (high dynamic range). I’ve done this in the past but haven’t played with it in photoshop until now. Below are 2 picture that I took and used photoshop to merge 3 images into the one that you see. The top one is of the capital building, and the bottom is the view from my hotel room. The view is of Cambridge over the Charles River, I was staying at Liberty Hotel. Fun fact about the capital building, in order for the capital to have a gold top like in Boston a president must be born in that state. Read More…

Supermoon

Saturday night was the so called supermoon, where the moon is the closest to the earth. I went out and took a few pictures of the spuermoon. It did look a little bigger and brighter, with it only happening every 18 years it was a good time to take some shots of the moon. Read More…

Death of a Christmas Tree

Every year we all buy a Christmas tree, it is up and decorated for maybe a month, maybe more. Sometimes it can be sad throwing away the tree that you loved for that month. This year I saw my Christmas tree sitting outside before being thrown away and I thought of a random photo project, Death of a Christmas tree. As you can see below it goes from still having the stand on to being in the trash. A sad sight for some random small project for me. Read More…

52 week project

With the new year brings a new opportunity at failing trying to do a 365 project. I attempted to do it last year but it only lasted a few weeks before I started to miss days. So this year I’m going to go with 52 week project instead, hoping that it is easier to keep up. I know that it is the second week of the year but so far I have finish the first three weeks of the year. I’ve decided to give myself the best opportunity for success I’m going to start the week on Monday and need to have that weeks shot done by Sunday. By Sunday I’ll have a post up showing what I did for the week, in the post I’ll have the final shot that I’ll be putting in a 52 week gallery in my photography page and some of the shots that I didn’t use for the week to show what I was trying to do and how I accomplished the shot.

Also to make things a little easier for this to succeed I’m going to be using a calendar that Digital Photography School posted at the beginning of this year. Need some insiration as well? Get the calendar here.
